SUCCESS! 2011 Stamats Adult Student Marketing Conference
At this year’s third annual Stamats Adult Student Marketing Conference we had two attendees who have actually attended this conference since its inception in 2009. Following the conference, one of these two distinguished guests said, “The best one yet.” From my vantage point, I could not agree more.
Without a doubt, the conference started off strong as attendees had the opportunity to hear the outcomes of the 2010 Stamats Adult StudentTALK™ research for the first time and, more importantly, had some candid discussion about what this data means for their institutions. In my view, this set the bar high for the level of conversation that took place throughout the entire conference. As the sessions progressed, so did the level of the conversation (and sometimes debate) that continued to ratchet up the overall climate of the event. By the end of the first full day, it was as if the conference attendees had been working together for years with open discussion, sharing of challenges, and—more importantly—the sharing of ideas about making their individual programs better.
When I think back as to why this conference is (and always has been) so successful, I really have to say it ties back to the participants. I personally attend over one dozen conferences each year, and I am always most impressed with the climate and culture at this event. We at Stamats work hard to put together a great program, but it truly is the involvement of the participants who make this so successful.
Thank you again to those who came. To those who participated, you have my thanks, and the thanks of those who attendee—we have heard many great things! And to those who wanted to come this year but were unable to, I want to encourage you to put Feb. 28–March 1, 2012, on your calendar for our next conference, which will be held in Austin, Texas. The planning has already begun, and we aim to have another “best yet” event!
