Print is Alive!
People have been asking me when I am going to retire for quite some time. I am nowhere near retirement age (I like to think), but they usually say it with that dark, sad “sorry to hear about the death of your good friend, print” look on their face.
The fact is, print is alive and well and nowhere near retirement age. The effect of the Internet and variable data printing has kept print a viable channel in a good multi-channel marketing plan.
Witness the University of South Florida Polytechnic Polyhedron Pop-up. I totally love that name, but I love the piece, too. It is handed out flat in an envelope and when you pull it out it, well, it pops-up via a rubber band inside. It is a fun piece that will be left out and viewed over and over by prospective applicants. And, luckily, we did not have any premature pop-ups.
Check out the cover of the new St. Mary’s College of Minnesota road piece. I love this t-shirt! What a powerful challenge to prospective students. This piece is effective in so many ways. It is an important message sent to a student in the mail that their parents can see, too!
And sometimes printing is just plain beautiful. The new Flagler College viewbook cover has an embossed and foil stamp that you will not see in this blog, but you could if you held it in your hand.
There have been so many other amazing projects this year; I will be back to post more. Thank you to our crack creative teams and, of course, to our printers.
